Projects: Connecting with Nature through Geocaching

Title

Connecting with Nature through Geocaching

Body

The Lambton County Regional Trails Committee received funding from Union Gas to provide GPS units for exploring local trails. Geocaching is a type of high tech scavenger hunt that lets residents search for one of hundreds of "caches" that have been hidden throughout Lambton County.   Cache locations can be downloaded for free from http://www.geocaching.com/ and Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) units are used to find the cache.

GPS units can be borrowed (for Free) for a one week period at one of several trail partner locations. Photo identification is required to book a GPS unit at one of the following locations:

  • Lambton Shores Nature Trails Volunteer Committee: Northville Municipal Office, 9575 Port Franks Rd., RR#1 Thedford, 519-243-1400
  • Oil Springs Garden and Trail Committee: Oil Springs Municipal Office, 4591 Oil Springs Line, Oil Springs, 519-834-2939
  • St. Clair River Trail: Mooretown Library at Moore Sports Complex, 1166 Emily St. Mooretown, 519-867-2823
  • Bluewater Trails (Sarnia): via Lambton Public Health, 150 North Christina Street, 2nd Floor, 519-344-2062 ext 2111, toll free 1-800-387-2882
